MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Minimum 5 years of experience in similar position
• Bachelor’s degree in a health, safety, or environmental field of study
• Valid NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent certification
• Experience in multicultural context
• In depth knowledge of Namibian HSE legislation and procedures
• Knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Fluent in English, written and spoken
• Code B drivers license

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Writing internal health and safety policies & procedures in accordance with local regulations and best practices,
• Making regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations,
• Investigating/recording incidents & accidents,
• Making recommendations following accidents/incidents,
• Providing health and safety induction for employees, visitors and contractors working on site,
• Organizing / attending health and safety meetings with site contractors when needed,
• Checking risk assessment prepared by execution team and develop appropriate control measures to minimize workplace hazards,
• Participating to pre-job brief with supervisors and workers to ensure that main HSE messages are transmitted (related to risks) and understood in consistency with the scope of work,
• Identifying potential hazards,
• Determining ways of reducing risks on site,
• Keeping HSE registers up to date,
• Monitoring and reviewing HSE performance metrics and provide reports to management, highlighting areas of concern and recommending improvements,
• Keeping up to date and ensuring compliance with current health and safety legislation applicable in Namibia,
• Promoting safety initiatives.

GENERAL

The above mentioned duties reflect the position’s essential functions but does not contain all of the tasks that will be assigned.
