MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To ensure that the Draughting section prepares designs and workshop drawings in various disciplines such as Electrical, Mechanical, Structural, Architectural and Civil according to required specifications.

Key Performance Areas:

• Review and approve detailed models from sketches, marked up prints, layouts, and documentation.
• Review and approve drawings by using knowledge of standard drafting practices and acceptable engineering standards to select various views, symbols, legends and sectional views.
• Review flow sheets prepared by the team based on Engineers or Metallurgists' sketches.
• Conduct and review arithmetic computations, by using standard formulas for dimensions, scale, and area.
• Review working diagrams of plant, equipment and mechanical devices including dimensions, fastening methods, and other engineering information.
• Create and review detailed design drawings and specification, dies/tools, and control using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment.
• Review and analyze specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed.
• Ensure that designs are modified to correct operating deficiencies or to reduce production problems.
• Ensure that schematic, orthographic, or angle views are created to depict functional relationships of components, assemblies, systems, plant and equipment.
• Ensure that documentation, detailed instructions, drawings or specifications are accessible to the EUD and management and ensure that expert advice is provided on how devices, parts, equipment or structures are to be fabricated, constructed, assembled, modified, maintained or used.
• Ensure that the Drawing Office filing system is maintained to support the smooth running of the section.
• Ensure that bill of material is accessible and can be produced from drawings as and when required.

Requirements and experience:

• Grade 12 or current NSSCO with 20 points over 5 subjects.
• National Trade Diploma/ Certificate N3 or equivalent Draughting Diploma.
• 5 years’ post trade working experience of which 2 years should be at senior / supervisory level in mechanical and structural Draughting in a mining or related environment.
• Parametric model experience will be an added advantage.
• 3D modelling software knowledge.
• Working knowledge on CAD or related draughting software.
• Knowledge of drawing standards.
• Budget control processes knowledge.
• Code B or BE/ CE Driver’s License.
