Vacancies exist for Blasters in the Mining department. The incumbents will be responsible for the safely and effectively execution of blasting operations with the guidance from the Blasting Frontline supervisors as per the blasting regulations.

Key Performance Areas:

• Maintain health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Provide on-the-job coaching and mentoring to trainee Blasters for job sharing.
• Prepare blasting patterns by demarcating them and setting up exclusion zones according to standard procedures to prevent unauthorized entry.
• Destroy explosives using prescribed procedures and burn empty blasting cartons/boxes in the allocated area.
• Ensure operating conditions that minimize consumable costs wherever possible.
• Identify and implement business process improvements within the area of responsibility.

Requirements and experience:

• Grade 12 with a minimum E in English and a Permanent Government Blasting Certificate, with at least two (2) years post-blasting experience in an open-pit environment.
• Valid Code B driver's license.
• A Police Certificate of Conduct not older than six months (a record will not automatically disqualify candidates).
