MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To lead a team of Artisans for the effective and efficient maintenance of all equipment and systems in area of responsibility to ensure that production targets are achieved, at maximum availability and optimum cost, including adherence to job safety and good housekeeping standards.

Key Performance Areas

• Direct maintenance activities to ensure maximum availability of haul trucks for mining operations.
• Review work orders, prioritise maintenance tasks, and ensure availability of required parts and materials.
• Diagnose equipment faults and implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve fleet reliability.
• Identify potential equipment failures and initiate preventative maintenance actions.
• Ensure maintenance programmes are executed in accordance with company standards and schedules.
• Monitor and follow up on outstanding and overdue maintenance work orders.
• Conduct failure and downtime analysis and implement corrective actions to improve equipment performance.
• Isolate and rectify equipment faults promptly to minimise operational downtime.
• Implement engineering standards to improve equipment efficiency and minimise delays.
• Calibrate equipment in accordance with company and manufacturer specifications.

Requirements & Experience

• Grade 12 or current NSSCO with at least 20 points over 5 subjects.
• Recognised N3 & L3 Trade Certificate in Diesel Mechanics, Electrical, Millwright, or Fitting & Turning with 7 years' post-trade experience, including 3 years in a supervisory role; or a BTech/Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 3 years' maintenance experience.
• Experience in a mining maintenance environment is advantageous.
• Working knowledge of maintenance systems such as SAP or On Key.
• Experience maintaining Caterpillar or Komatsu haul trucks in an open-pit mining environment will be an added advantage.
• Valid Code B/BE Driver's Licence.
