PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

To control and facilitate all activities within the Perishables departments by implementing required standards and procedures, ensuring product quality, maximising sales, and delivering excellent customer service to support store profitability.

Key Accountabilities

Sales &Performance

• Drive departmental sales and profitability targets.
• Manage shrinkage, waste, and gross profit performance.
• Ensure compliance with merchandising and product availability standards.

Stock Management & Merchandising

• Control stock levels, ordering, and replenishment.
• Ensure FIFO and proper stock rotation practices.
• Maintain product quality and remove expired or damaged stock.

Food Preparation &Perishables Operations

• Oversee the preparation and presentation of perishables products.
• Ensure production meets quality and customer expectations.
• Maintain high presentation and display standards.

Health, Safety & Hygiene

• Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
• Monitor temperature control, cleaning, and equipment usage.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.

People Management

• Supervise, train, and develop team members.
• Manage staff scheduling, attendance, and performance.
• Enforce discipline and adherence to company standards.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES:

• National Senior Level Certificate.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a perishables or food environment.
• Supervisory experience in retail or food service.
• Strong knowledge of cold chain management, product lifespan, waste management, and stock rotation (FIFO).

ADVANTAGEOUS

• Experience in deli, hot foods, or fresh departments.
• Knowledge of stock ordering and receiving processes.
• Strong people management capability.
