MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To provide a cost effective management accounting service in accordance with Swakop Uranium (SU) policies and procedures.

Key Performance Areas:

• Prepare, improve, and distribute management reports to management and budget holders to assess financial performance monthly.
• Assist the Management Accountant in driving cost savings through the budget process.
• Report on key business metrics and include them in monthly management reports.
• Assist in preparing long-term cash flow forecasts with updated information.
• Propose and implement internal controls, policies, and procedures.
• Ensure the correctness and integrity of financial models.
• Conduct ongoing cost analysis, identify problem areas, and recommend corrective action.
• Continually improve financial models to support the dynamic nature of the business.
• Develop, maintain, update, and optimize financial and budget models for medium- and long-term budgeting and forecasting.
• Assist in coordinating and consolidating annual CAPEX and OPEX budgeting for final approval.
• Collate budget input data from line management and cost accountants.
• Assist with departmental budget reviews, highlighting inconsistencies and inaccuracies to improve efficiency.
• Coordinate midyear budget revisions and monthly forecasts with the Management Accountant.
• Identify and analyze expenditure trends and performance against budget.
• Produce monthly management reports on budget variances, including explanations and exception reporting.
• Participate in monthly cost meetings with budget holders to review budget implementation.
• Engage in benchmarking studies to identify opportunities for operational improvements.
• Stay updated on new developments and implement relevant improvements to work processes.

Requirements and experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Financial/Management Accounting (B.Acc., B.Com., B.Compt.).
• Honours degree in Accounting (CTA) will be an added advantage.
• Minimum of 5 years’ financial modelling experience.
• Experience in the mining industry will be a distinct advantage.
• Valid Code B/BE Driver’s License.
