MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

Manage the metallurgical aspects of the processing plant to ensure effective start-up and management of the treatment plant and technical metallurgical support services to achieve optimal availability, utilization and performance of resources..

Key Performance Areas:

• Maintain effective operational control across the plant.
• Ensure achievement of annual and monthly uranium oxide production targets.
• Initiate, lead and participate in technical investigations related to plant operations and maintenance.
• Analyse production data and reports; identify causes of delays/deviations and implement corrective actions to optimize efficiency and process performance.
• Oversee and implement processing schedules across all plant areas.
• Coordinate labour, equipment and material resources to meet output quantity, quality and timing specifications.
• Review, develop and enforce work standards, procedures and practices to enhance utilization and efficiency.
• Identify the scope and need for projects, including maintenance initiatives.
• Recommend and evaluate short- and long-term projects for metallurgical process improvements.
• Conduct cost analyses for long-term projects and operational efficiency optimization.
• Assist with feasibility studies to enhance operational efficiency.
• Manage and control budgets based on production requirements, ensuring expenditure remains within approved limits.
• Review contractor service level agreements and ensure KPIs are met as stipulated.

Requirements and experience:

• B-Tech / BSc Degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Chemical Engineering.
• Honours Degree in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering will be an added advantage.
• Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a processing plant environment, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
• Experience in uranium processing is a strong advantage.
• Proven project delivery and project management experience in process development for processing plant projects.
• Solid understanding and application of the Minerals (Prospecting and Mining) Act 33 of 1992.
• Extensive knowledge and practical application of Health and Safety regulations under the Labour Act 6 of 1992.
• Sound working knowledge of Mine Health and Safety regulations in accordance with the Mines, Works and Minerals Ordinance 20 of 1968.
• Valid Code B or BE Driver’s Licence.
