MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To safely perform mechanical maintenance tasks on all machinery / equipment in accordance with set standards, procedures and specifications, to achieve optimum equipment availability and process efficiency objectives.

Key Performance Areas:

• Perform skilled technical work within the parameters of the trade, according to standards, procedures, and specifications, on all machinery and equipment in the area of responsibility.
• Inspect, diagnose, maintain, adjust, and repair faults and overhaul equipment and machinery on-site to maximize availability and ensure that the standard is maintained as per related schedules.
• Schedule maintenance activities by ensuring that the required parts, tools, and special tools are available during services and repairs as planned, allowing repair and maintenance work to be done in the shortest possible time.
• Provide proactive advice and guidance on the effective repair and maintenance of equipment and machinery.
• Identify and interpret best practice guidelines, plans, and implement accordingly.
• Analyze trends and implement continuous improvements.
• Keep the line fully informed of all work performed in the area of responsibility, and timeously report any deviations so that appropriate action can be taken.
• Comply with company job safety and good housekeeping standards and practices at all times.
• Ensure adequate care and correct use of tools within the section and take corrective action where necessary.

Requirements and experience:

• Grade 12 or current NSSCO with 20 points over 5 subjects.
• Recognized Trade Diploma or Certificate in Diesel Mechanics (N3).
• 3 years post-trade experience in a diesel machinery and equipment maintenance environment.
• Earthmoving or Mining and support equipment maintenance experience.
• Valid Code B or BE Driver’s License.
• Valid Code C Driver’s License will be an added advantage.
