Introduction:

Vacancy exists for an Artisan: Electronics reporting to the Mining Maintenance Foreman. The successful incumbent will be responsible for the continued availability of Electronic Equipment including but not limited to: Telemetry & radio communication systems; radiation equipment; wireless network systems; general industrial electronics & instrumentation system repairs; electronics of auxiliary and heavy earth moving equipment; process & mining equipment PLC’s; mining system (MMC) & sub systems maintenance and to support both the Electrical and Mechanical teams. These deliverables will be achieved in compliance to the Rossing and RUL Occupational, Health, Safety and Environmental Standards.


Key Performance Areas:

  • Ensuring that work area, tools and equipment used are always made and kept clean and safe by physically inspecting the area, tools and equipment;
  • Obtaining job docket from either foreman or Leading Hand or Operations/Production, and at times discussing with Leading Hand resources needed to do the job;
  • Signing off work permits in their area of responsibility;
  • Carrying out maintenance tasks as per RUL standards, Engineering standards and equipment manuals;
  • Installing equipment as instructed by either Foreman or Supervisor as per RUL standards, Engineering standards and equipment manuals and specifications;
  • Testing equipment after installation according to specifications;
  • Investigating and verifying the nature of the fault, using testing equipment;
  • Conducting on the-job training to apprentices working under Instrumentation Mechanic or Artisan Electronics by imparting knowledge to them with guidance from the Foreman;
  • Ordering stock as well as non-stock spares for authorisation by the Foreman, utilising the computerised material management system;

Requirements and experience:

  • Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science. N3 and Trade Theory in Instrumentation/ Trade Diploma/Certificate in Instrumentation. 3 Years minimum experience (post apprentice).
  • Valid Code BE driver’s Licence.
  • A Police certificate of conduct not older than six months is required. A record will not automatically disqualify candidates.
