MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To plan and coordinate activities concerned with the design, construction, modification and maintenance of all mechanical equipment to ensure maximum equipment availability at optimum cost to achieve production targets including adherence to SSHER requirements.

Key Performance Areas

• Enforce legal, statutory, and procedural compliance while ensuring governance standards are maintained.
• Implement and improve engineering systems, procedures, and operational processes.
• Develop contingency plans and corrective actions to minimise operational and technical risks.
• Participate in compliance audits and ensure adherence to legislation, policies, and procedures.
• Develop project objectives, proposals, plans, and technical cost estimates.
• Implement systems and procedures to ensure efficient project execution.
• Collaborate with departments to maintain the mechanical integrity of plant equipment.
• Ensure plant equipment is maintained according to OEM specifications.
• Coordinate contractors, vendors, and engineering consultants on maintenance projects.
• Investigate downtime root causes and implement preventative maintenance programmes.
• Monitor equipment reliability, lifecycle costs, and cost-saving initiatives.
• Identify production losses and implement equipment reliability improvements.
• Develop and enhance Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) and spares management systems.
• Contribute to operational budgeting by forecasting costs and monitoring expenditure.

Requirements & Experience

• BTech or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years' relevant engineering experience.
• Experience in a mining or processing plant environment will be an advantage.
• Exposure to structural and chemical tank repairs and EMVs.
• Experience in continuous improvement and multidisciplinary engineering projects.
• Knowledge of process optimisation, equipment life extension, and reliability improvement.
• Experience coordinating contractors and engineering service providers.
• Registration with the Engineering Council of Namibia (or equivalent) is advantageous.
• Valid Code B/BE Driver's Licence.
