Introduction:

Vacancies exists for the Laboratory Technician on a Fixed-Term Contract at the Laboratory within the Processing department. The successful candidate will be required to have an in-depth knowledge in all preparations and analysis work carried out in the laboratories. He/she will be required to contribute to the safe and continuous operations of the laboratories by performing specific sampling of plant samples, analysis, applying the quality control systems and performing day-to-day work to provide accurate results to operations. He/she will be required to work shifts from time to time.

Key Performance Areas:

• Maintaining health, safety and environment standards
• Carrying out sample collection, preparations and inspection of sampling equipment
• Carrying out analyses and test work for mining and process samples
• Carrying out basic maintenance and calibrations of equipment
• Evaluating and reporting results
• Fulfilling her/his duties as part of the team
• Carrying out ad hoc operational requirements

Requirements and experience:

• Grade 12 with Maths/or Science with 20 Points and E-symbol in English
• National Diploma in Chemistry will be an added advantage
• Three years’ experience in a mining/chemical laboratory operations
• Valid Code BE driver’s licence
• A Police certificate of conduct not older than six months is required. A record will not automatically disqualify candidates.
