A vacancy exists for Manager: Information Systems and Technology. The primary purpose of the role is to set the Information Systems and Technology objectives and strategies to meet the overall RUL business strategies. Selecting and implementing suitable technology to streamline all internal operations and help optimise their strategic benefits. Oversee the technological infrastructure (networks and computer systems), business applications, IT security and surveillance to ensure optimal performance.


Key Performance Areas:

  • Striving for Zero Harm.
  • Formulating and executing strategic goals and objectives that support the operational strategy.
  • Monitoring performance and compliance of all subordinates and contractors to set standards.
  • Investigating incidents and recommending corrective/remedial measures. Following up to ensure that these are adhered to and implemented.
  • Maintaining an appropriate organizational structure with the required resources and skills to meet all KPIs of the department.
  • Implementing and managing RUL-specific Information Systems and Technology policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Assisting with internal and external Information Systems and Technology audits and ensuring the recommended actions are implemented as planned.
  • Implementing and managing procedures and controlling to target 100% uptime and reliability of all core and non-core systems.
  • Managing all Information Systems and Technology and certain electronics-related projects to ensure projects are executed within planned time, budget, and scope.
  • Maintaining the integrity of hardware and software systems.
  • Establishing and maintaining cost-effective supplier contracts to support operational requirements.
  • Analysing the business processes, identifying systems and technology shortcomings, and presenting recommendations.

Requirements and experience:

  • A recognized 4-year (Honours degree) on (NQF Level 8) in Information Technology or Computer Science with ten (10) years of working experience in Information Systems and Technology of which five (5) years should have been on a managerial level in a large organization actively managing Information Systems and Technology and business improvement projects, OR
  • A recognized 3-year (Bachelor’s degree) on (NQF Level 7) in Information Technology or Computer Science with twelve (12) years of working experience in Information Systems and Technology of which five (5) years should have been on a managerial level in a large organization actively managing Information Systems and Technology and business improvement projects, OR
  • A recognized 3-year National Diploma on (NQF Level 6) in Information Technology or Computer Science with fifteen (15) years of working experience in Information Systems and Technology of which seven (7) years should have been on a managerial level in a large organization actively managing Information Systems and Technology and business improvement projects.
  • A project management certificate will be an added advantage.
  • A valid Code B Driver’s Licence.
  • A Police certificate of conduct not older than six months is required. A record will not automatically disqualify candidates.
