MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To operate the plant and associated equipment in area of responsibility in a safe and efficient manner as set out in all operating procedures, to ensure minimum downtime and compliance to SSHERQ standards and procedures.

Key Performance Areas:

• Monitor operational and equipment settings in area of responsibility and report any deviations to line..
• Monitor throughput and ensure that the set plant parameters are met at all times.
• Follow established procedures, ensure that circuits run at maximum efficiency, in order to ensure optimal plant performance.
• Prepare plant for Start / Stop in area of responsibility according to set procedures.
• Maintain a log of activities and system logs as required, by recording all events on the hourly shift log book (ratios, density, titration, chokes etc.).
• Report emergency conditions and breakdowns to line.
• Perform basic operational maintenance and housekeeping activities aligned to the area of responsibility.
• Take immediate basic remedial action where necessary to reduce/contain risks and emergencies.
• Conduct risk assessments daily before commencing with any work.
• Demarcate all unsafe areas and complete near miss report and follow up on all actions to make the area safe.
• Complete all equipment log sheets required during the shift.
• Log all operational and maintenance deviations in the shift report and report to line.
• Keep in contact with Control Room to obtain process information for decision making and to report all field deviations.

Requirements and experience:

• Grade 12 or current NSSCO with 20 points over 5 subjects.
• Experience in a processing plant will be an added advantage.
• Code B or BE Driver’s License.
• Must meet the assessment requirements.
• Candidates with Tertiary Qualifications or VTC Trade are encouraged to apply
