ROLE PURPOSE:

The Finance Officer is responsible for managing the financial health of the organisation. This role involves overseeing financial planning, budgeting, reporting and ensuring compliance with the relevant regulations/ authorities. The Finance Officer works closely with management to provide accurate financial information and support strategic decision-making processes.


JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Prepare, examine, and analyse accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans in collaboration with other departments.
  • Monitor and manage cash flows, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to management and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and implement recommendations where applicable.
  • Maintain compliance with financial regulations, tax laws, and internal policies.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of financial policies and procedures.
  • Support procurement processes and contract management as required.
  • Advise management on cost reduction, revenue enhancement, and financial risk management strategies.
  • Supervise and mentor junior finance staff where necessary.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Five (5) years of proven experience in a finance or accounting role, ideally within a similar sector
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills
  • Proficiency in financial management software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • High level of integrity and ethical approach to financial management
