PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

Holds complete responsibility for the operation of the engine room, engineering and technical facilities and any maintenance of machinery onboard the vessel.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Plan, manage, and control engineering systems.
• Perform repair and maintenance duties as requested by the Supervisor.
• Manage the manning and personnel requirements of engine-room staff.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental requirements.
• Manage engineering stores and provisions.
• Manage budgeting and cost control for the Engineering Section.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

• Marine Engineer Officer Class 4 Certificate of Competence with valid Advanced Safety Certificates.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Chief Engineer working on main engines with a capacity of 1,200 kW or more.
• At least 1 year of experience working on trawlers will be a definite advantage.
