PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To plan, lead and coordinate the Safety, Health, Environment & Quality (SHEQ) function at the Port of Lüderitz through effective and efficient administration, application and enforcement of policies, standards and regulations relating to SHEQ programmes. This role is pivotal in achieving Namport’s SHEQ objectives and reports directly to the Port Manager: Lüderitz

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Implement Environmental, Health and Safety work instructions, procedures and continuously update them.
• Ensure enforcement of legislative and operational regulations.
• Oversee Environmental, Health and Safety training and induction of new employees.
• Account for contractor management.
• Conduct daily safety checks on haulage and mechanical lifting equipment.
• Facilitate departmental environmental, health and safety meetings.
• Conduct SHEQ accidents/ incidents investigations and implement preventative measures.
• Ensure operational control and enforcement of port environmental regulations.
• Continuously surveil the Port including hazardous material storage facilities to reduce or eliminate staff exposures and fire risks.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree [NQF Level 7] in Occupational Health and Safety Management or relevant qualification.
• Certificates in environmental control, NEBOSH, pollution combating, OHS Hygiene will be an added advantage.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018 integrated management systems.
• Minimum of five (5) years of relevant working experience in a SHEQ environment with at least two (2) years at a supervisory level.
• Must be analytical and resilient with an ability to adhere to strict deadlines.
• Possess strong technical and relationship-building capabilities.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Must be in possession of a Code B driver’s license.
• High level of Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality conscious.
• Medically fit.
