PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

To lead a team of Foremen and Artisans in safely and accurately executing the project manager’s directives by delegating, supervising and correcting to ensure the highest level of workmanship and quality for satisfying the needs and requirements of our company and clients.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Accurately measure parts and interpret mechanical and technical drawings.
  • Ensure resources are managed within the Project Manager’s quotes and forecasts without exceeding budget or timeline.
  • Ensure foremen understand requirements and project expectations.
  • Monitor and report any deviations from forecast or budget in a timely manner.
  • Assign, instruct, and lead the right personnel to the right tasks.
  • Ensure foremen achieve daily objectives through effective planning, organizing, and supervision.
  • Assess worker performance and advise foremen on managing performance according to company standards and procedures.
  • Manage disciplinary actions in line with company standards and procedures.
  • Provide mentorship to team members on technical skills transfer and teamwork.
  • Mobilize and demobilize people, equipment, and materials for project start-up and completion.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and effective workforce utilization.
  • Create an atmosphere of accountability, consistency, and reliability to achieve outstanding outcomes.
  • Lead teams toward an inspiring future, enhancing engagement, morale, and resilience.
  • Foster open communication to encourage creativity and innovation.
  • Ensure administrative documentation, including timesheets and reports, is completed and submitted on time to payroll.
  • Prepare labor and material estimates in consultation with the Project Manager.
  • Forecast labor hours and job duration, and monitor labor and material usage against forecasts.
  • Report any deviations or client-related issues promptly to the Project Manager.
  • Provide consistent reporting on job status and progress.
  • Manage Variations Orders (VOs) and ensure no work is performed without prior authorization.
  • Conduct job feedback meetings to prevent recurrence of substandard performance.
  • Ensure jobs are executed within budgeted costs and allocated time.
  • Manage labor utilization efficiently and determine shift requirements to ensure adequate supervision on projects.
  • Oversee short-time management, material usage, and tool control.
  • Provide technical advice and support to Foremen and Artisans on customer requirements.
  • Ensure employee output meets customer requirements and that workshop fabrication activities adhere to specifications.
  • Apply correct skills and procedures to prevent rework and ensure quality workmanship.
  • Monitor labor hours against budgets and notify the Project Manager of any potential or actual deviations.
  • Ensure accurate timekeeping and attendance recording.
  • Continuously update the Project Manager on project progress.
  • Ensure all jobs are completed without non-conformances and within agreed deadlines.

Minimum requirements:

  • Grade 12 with English, Mathematics, and Science
  • National Trade Certificate in Construction or Engineering
  • Minimum 6 years’ on-the-job experience in an industrial environment
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office
  • Valid Driver’s License
