Job Description:

Management: Provide strategic direction and day-to-day leadership for the Systems Administration and Helpdesk teams, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented environment.


Technical Expertise: Oversee the efficient operation and maintenance of our IT infrastructure, while staying connected to the technical aspects of the role.


Job Specification

Leadership & Team Management

  • Provide strategic direction and day-to-day leadership for the Systems Administration and Helpdesk teams.
  • Foster a collaborative, results-oriented, and customer-focused work environment.
  • Develop and implement performance management plans and monitor progress.
  • Identify and facilitate training and professional development opportunities to enhance team capabilities.

Technical Expertise

  • Oversee the efficient operation, maintenance, and optimization of the organization’s IT infrastructure.
  • Lead the development, documentation, and enforcement of IT policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Collaborate with senior IT staff on complex technical projects and initiatives.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, tools, and industry best practices to support continuous improvement.

User Support

  • Ensure the effective delivery of first-line technical support via phone, email, and remote desktop tools.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance user experience and satisfaction.
  • Establish and maintain clear escalation processes for complex technical issues.

System Administration

  • Supervise the installation, configuration, and maintenance of desktop hardware and software.
  • Ensure the timely application of patches, updates, and upgrades to maintain optimal system performance and security.
  • Implement and monitor system health and performance tools, addressing issues proactively.
  • Oversee accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guidelines.

Network Administration

  • Supervise network maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure stability and availability.
  • Collaborate with service providers to manage and optimize network and telephony systems.
  • Promote a strong understanding of networking concepts and best practices across the IT team.

Security Awareness

  • Champion IT security best practices and promote a culture of cybersecurity awareness across the organization.
  • Develop and deliver security awareness and compliance training programs.
  • Ensure adherence to organizational and regulatory IT security standards.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Education

  • Qualification: Degree in Information Technology, Systems Administration, Networking, Cyber Security, or a related field. A master’s or postgraduate degree would be an advantage.
  • Technical Certifications: Certifications in the following tools and technologies would be an advantage: VMware, NetApp Storage, Qualys, Sentinel, Microsoft Office 365 Environments, Active Directory, Domain Services, Scripting, COBIT/ITIL, On-Prem and Cloud Infrastructure.

Experience

  • Minimum of 8 years’ proven experience in technical support and IT management roles.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a strong focus on customer service.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively lead, guide, and mentor a technical team.
