The L2 Network Engineer will be responsible primarily for troubleshooting and resolving networking-related support incidents across Acunam's managed customer environments.

Job Description:

• Attend to and resolve Level 2 (L2) networking support tickets, including escalations from the Service Desk and other technical teams.
• Troubleshoot LAN, WAN, VLAN, routing, switching, firewall, VPN, Wi-Fi, and general network connectivity issues.
• Troubleshoot and support customer environments consisting primarily of Cisco switches, Fortinet FortiGate firewalls, Cisco Meraki devices, and Ubiquiti wireless access points and controllers.
• Configure, deploy, and maintain network switches, firewalls, routers, wireless access points, and related networking infrastructure.
• Diagnose network performance, connectivity, and configuration problems and implement appropriate corrective action.
• Identify networking-related security risks, configuration weaknesses, and potential points of failure, and escalate or remediate these where appropriate.
• Perform network configuration changes, firmware upgrades, and maintenance in accordance with Acunam's change management processes.
• Maintain accurate customer network documentation, including configurations, diagrams, IP addressing, VLANs, and infrastructure changes.
• Assist with the development and implementation of networking standards, standard configurations, and best practices across managed customer environments.
• Participate in the evaluation, testing, and selection of networking products and technologies.
• Assist with networking projects, upgrades, migrations, and new customer deployments.
• Collaborate with other technical teams and vendors when troubleshooting incidents involving networks, servers, cloud services, or third-party connectivity.

Minimum Requirements:

General:

• Namibian citizenship.
• Grade 12 certificate.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Fluency in English and Afrikaans.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to systematically diagnose complex technical problems and resolve incidents.
• Ability to communicate technical issues and solutions clearly to customers and colleagues.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a technical team.
• Ability to prioritise and manage multiple support incidents in an MSP or Service Desk environment.
• Willingness to participate in after-hours support, planned maintenance, and network changes when required.
• Valid driver's licence.

Experience and Certifications:

• Cisco CCNA certification is required.
• Fortinet NSE 4 or equivalent FortiGate certification is required.
• Cisco Meraki and/or Ubiquiti certification will be an advantage.
• Minimum of 3 years' practical networking experience, preferably within an MSP, service provider, or multi-customer support environment.
• Demonstrable practical experience in troubleshooting and configuring Cisco switching and VLAN environments.
• Practical experience administering and troubleshooting FortiGate firewalls, including firewall policies, NAT, and VPN connectivity.
• Experience with Cisco Meraki networking and security products will be an advantage.
• Experience with Ubiquiti UniFi wireless networks, access points, and controllers will be an advantage.
• Good practical understanding of TCP/IP, subnetting, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, STP, routing, NAT, VPNs, and Wi-Fi.
• Experience using network monitoring, diagnostic, and troubleshooting tools will be an advantage.
