PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

To manage the company's purchasing of goods and services by identifying needs, researching and sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts and supply agreements, and ensuring all products and materials meet company standards and cost-effectiveness.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Procure materials and services in line with agreed forecasts and planning goals by reviewing requirements on MRP.
  • Evaluate and manage optimal inventory levels while considering supply chain constraints to avoid stockouts.
  • Manage warehouse space by optimizing stock on hand.
  • Plan, oversee, and assist with monthly stock counts; investigate discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure optimal stock turnaround times to prevent stock from expiring.
  • Monitor and manage daily stock levels to ensure on-time, in-full deliveries.
  • Negotiate and compare prices by regularly sending out RFQs to control and reduce spend.
  • Initiate purchase and service level agreements.
  • Maintain system contracts and follow up on discrepancies from supplier invoices, taking corrective action where necessary.
  • Conduct monthly supplier performance evaluations, assess KPIs, and initiate improvements with key suppliers.
  • Scrutinize vendor applications to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Address non-conformances related to faulty material with relevant suppliers.
  • Ensure correctness of master data and MRP data.
  • Lead the O&L Persona at Hartlief and manage performance and development of direct reporting staff.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or Economics.
  • Minimum of 6–8 years’ experience in the procurement field, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Valid Code B Driver’s License.
  • Experience working on SAP systems and within the meat or FMCG industry will be an added advantage.
