Purpose of the Job:

o provide strategic input, and influence direction and policy to lead the Financial Services Division of Letshego Holdings (Namibia) Ltd and its subsidiaries – Letshego Bank (Namibia) Limited and Letshego Micro Financial Services (Pty) Ltd, to ensure statutory compliance and reporting, and optimal capital and balance sheet management in order to create shareholder value


Critical Deliverables /Core Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the development of the Group strategy and leadership as part of the executive team.
  • Formulate the financial strategy aligned to the business strategy and translate it into action plans.
  • Provide financial input and advice to business unit Heads to assist them in strategy development, financial reporting, tax, remuneration structures, and costing.
  • Monitor key strategic initiatives and assess their impact on the business' financial performance.
  • Manage and coordinate the development and execution of financial strategic objectives and initiatives for the Letshego Holding Company.
  • Identify local, regional, and national issues with potential financial impact on Letshego Holdings and develop appropriate strategies.
  • Analyze relevant statutory reporting legislation and develop and implement aligned financial reporting systems and procedures in the Group.
  • Manage financial regulatory compliance with Bank of Namibia, NAMFISA, and Namibia Stock Exchange requirements, and approve related payments to ensure legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with all financial reporting obligations for the Group.
  • Analyze and present consolidated financial information to the CMC monthly and to the Board of Directors quarterly, including updates to the majority shareholder.
  • Engage with investors and provide information to retain current investments and attract new ones.
  • Act as chairman of the procurement committee to ensure decisions are compliant with budgets, rules, and regulations.
  • Serve as Treasurer and chairman of ALCO and the investment committee to optimize balance sheet profitability.
  • Manage staff through effective line management practices, ensuring performance and fostering a high-performance, learning-driven culture.
  • Ensure compliance with tax reporting obligations and drive related efficiencies across the Group.

Minimum requirements

  • Grade 12, 25 points.
  • Chartered Accountant with at least 10 years of experience in both private and listed environments, of which at least 3 years should be in the banking environment at a senior management level.
  • Sound knowledge of commercial banking operations and products.
  • Strong credit assessment and risk management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of regulations and legal procedures relating to banking.
  • Strong interpersonal and persuasion skills.
  • Strong decision-making abilities.
  • Strategic thinking and business acumen.
  • Effective presentation skills.
  • Impact and influence.
  • Ability to lead a strong team and manage multiple disciplines.
