What will you do?

The Group Legal & Compliance Consultant will play a key part as member of the group legal & compliance team, by assisting to manage compliance risks. The position further requires providing legal advice and recommendations to business units, draft documents & reports and interpreting legislation.


What will make you successful in this role?

  • Interpret legislation, regulations, guidance notes, and directives to identify and assess compliance risks.
  • Draft documents, processes, policies, and procedures to address compliance risks.
  • Implement processes, procedures, and controls to effectively manage compliance risks.
  • Ensure that compliance processes, policies, and procedures are maintained.
  • Consult with and provide recommendations to business units to address compliance deficiencies.
  • Monitor and report on compliance risks.
  • Assist with compliance reporting internally and externally.
  • Engage with auditors and review audit reports.
  • Engage with regulators for enquiries, questionnaires, and inspections.
  • Review compliance-related training material and ensure that staff complete the training and assessment.

Qualification and Experience

  • Minimum Grade 12 and Bachelor Degree in Law
  • Minimum 3 years experience in compliance risk management environment
  • Admitted Attorney (or in the process of)
  • Diploma/ Certificate in Compliance Management
  • Certificate in Anti-money Laundering Controls

Knowledge and Skills

  • In-depth knowledge and insight of relevant legislation and compliance risk management.
  • Excellent English (verbal & written) language skills; an additional local Namibian language will be a competitive advantage.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong administrative and operational skills and knowledge.
  • Proactive, problem-solving, and goal-oriented.
  • Computer literate: proficient in MS Office Suite and company software.
  • Detail-oriented with good interpersonal skills, strong time management, and multitasking abilities.
  • Skilled in administration, problem identification, and problem-solving.
  • Assertive, proactive, tactful, and polite.
  • Accurate, organized, and client-service focused.
  • Understanding of the legal environment of the Group's business and ability to provide appropriate guidance.
