Purpose of the Job

Planning, scheduling, coordinating, monitoring preventive maintenance activities of all plant equipment and machinery in accordance with manufacturers’ recommendations, food safety standards, Meatco’s policy, and best engineering practices.


Key Performance Areas

  • Plan total productive maintenance, installations, and repair work of factory machinery and equipment.
  • Oversee non-destructive testing and condition monitoring activities, such as oil analysis, vibration analysis, and thermography.
  • Manage work order cycles by generating, assigning, capturing, and closing off schedules and ad-hoc work orders using a computerized maintenance management system.
  • Arrange and oversee pressure vessel inspections, equipment calibrations, and re-certifications in compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Assist with developing and updating maintenance policies, strategies, and procedures.
  • Compile and maintain records of all repairs, installations, energy utilization, and maintenance & KPI reports (equipment availability, reliability, manpower utilization, etc.).
  • Control purchases of technical spare parts, machinery, and equipment, and follow up on outstanding orders to ensure optimal production.

Qualifications, Experience and Competency Requirements

  • National Technical Certificate N3 in Electrical, Fitting & Turning, Millwright, or Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering.
  • Certificate in Maintenance Planning & Scheduling and/or Pragma Onkey5 system administration certificate will be an added advantage.
  • 5 years’ experience in a technical field, with preferably 2 years of experience in a Maintenance Planning environment. Technical experience in the FMCG environment will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of international standards related to asset management (ISO 55000) and food safety certification systems (e.g., ISO 9000, ISO 22 000, BRCGS, HACCP).
  • Proficient in using a computerized maintenance management system (Pragma Onkey5/Onkey Plus, SAP) (CMMS) and Microsoft Office Package.
  • Knowledge of integrated engineering systems (Mechanical-Electrical-Electronic).
  • Project management, advanced engineering judgment, strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
