PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION:

Overall accountable for effective and efficient management of a defined portfolio of Corporate and Institutional Banking (CIB) Clients, integrating and co-ordinating all the Bank’s products, services and resources to maximize the value of the business relationship and ensure profitability for the Bank and the Client.


KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (KPA’s):

Business Strategy and Market Understanding

  • Contribute to overall strategy formulation with market knowledge, competitor analysis, and innovative deal structures.
  • Support Sector Team Leads in executing the Customer Value Proposition (CVP) to enhance customer experience and profitability.
  • Recommend improvements to systems, processes, and structures to ensure the viability of CIB.
  • Monitor competitor activities to retain clients and identify growth opportunities.
  • Identify new sales and business development opportunities, including cross-selling within the portfolio.
  • Stay informed on the Bank's strategy and ensure alignment with CIB’s objectives.
  • Understand client industries and utilize data to identify opportunities and threats for clients and the Bank.
  • Ensure resolution of all client queries through Transactional Products and Services (TPS) or relevant bank areas.

Client Profitability and Risk Management

  • Manage all aspects of business within a portfolio of CIB customers, increasing income contribution and market share.
  • Review the quality of borrowing relationships to minimize non-performing loans (NPL).
  • Understand and adhere to the Bank's risk policies and procedures.
  • Identify potential problem accounts and formulate risk mitigation strategies.
  • Research and analyze information to identify business opportunities and pre-empt risks.
  • Collaborate with credit teams to initiate deal proposals and ensure all documentation is in place.
  • Act on crisis situations to limit risk and maximize profitability.

Relationship Building

  • Independently manage and grow customer relationships within target sectors.
  • Establish and foster relationships with key contacts at potential client companies.
  • Maintain strong client relationships to maximize value for the Bank.
  • Engage in one-on-one meetings to explain services and guide client choices.
  • Maintain strong relationships with interrelated bank areas for smooth process facilitation.

Service Delivery

  • Provide excellent service to enhance the Bank’s reputation.
  • Initiate the customer onboarding process and ensure due process adherence.
  • Assess and maintain the relevance of products and services based on the customer’s risk profile.
  • Act as the first point of contact for transactional and credit-related aspects.
  • Ensure the implementation of business solutions in line with service level agreements.

Customer Service

  • Resolve customer complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Handle clients professionally and provide accurate information about the Bank’s products and services.

General

  • Attend to any other reasonable and lawful instructions from the supervisor, ensuring timely and correct execution.

Qualification & Expereince:

  • Matric (Grade12)
  • A Commerce Degree or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years banking experience, with at least 3 years in a corporate banking environment managing CIB client relationships.
  • Sound understanding of corporate treasury products and trade finance products.
  • Strong credit knowledge and marketing skills, with the ability to interpret financial information.
  • Good understanding of the general, economic, political, and business environment of the region.
  • Enthusiastic, highly motivated self-starter with a strong work ethic and a focus on achieving results, while acting in the best interest of the client and the bank.
  • Experience in financial services and knowledge of financial services industry products and solutions.
  • Understanding of high-level concepts regarding system integrations and digital products.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage with a diverse client profile.
  • Cohesive team player with a positive attitude.
  • Knowledge of Bank systems and procedures is an added advantage.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
